What colour are you?

10th October 2017

As a nation, we do not wear a lot of colour.  Is it because of our weather? Have you bought clothes on holidays in sunnier climates that just look ridiculous here? I know I have.

Back in the 90’s I remember my sister buying me vouchers for ‘Colour me Beautiful’ and insisting I should get my ‘colours’ done.  This involved wrapping a white sheet around your shoulders and draping different colour scarfs against your face to see which colours lite you up and which colours drained you.

Colour Me Beautiful Ireland  are still doing the rounds

The practice It seems to have gone out of ‘vogue’, I don’t hear that much about them now, but I have checked and they are still going www.cmbireland.com – if you have never had them done it is worth it if you find none of your clothes ‘illuminate’ your face.

When I had my colours done (about 15 years ago) it did take me out of my comfort zone a bit.  While I still wear the colours I always did I certainly wear more colours particularly bolder colours that I may have shied away from before.

For those looking for a quicker solution www.kettlewellcolours.co.uk offers a colour quiz which only takes a few minutes to complete.  The results are quite accurate – for me they turned up the same colourings.  Where Colour me Beautiful gives you a booklet that is surprisingly helpful as you break away from your safe colours – therefore gets to very specific shades of colours that suit you,  Kettlewell Colours is free and gives you a general idea of what colours to go for.
